Independence Party Endorses Frank For Mayor
Albany County Independence Party Endorses Commisso for Mayor
Commisso’s approach to deficit reduction and economic development praised
Albany, New York (June 12, 2017) – The Albany County Independence Party’s Executive Committee announced today that the party is endorsing Frank Commisso, Jr.’s candidacy for Mayor of Albany.
Albany County Independence Party Chairman Paul Caputo cited Commisso’s plan to grow Albany’s economy and reduce its projected deficit as the primary reason for their endorsement. Recently, an independent report was released that projected that Albany’s budget deficit would rise to between $20.8 and $23.5 million in 2018 if current policies continue.
Caputo also cited Commisso’s plans to help locally-owned businesses and grow the city’s tax base as much-needed remedies for Albany’s ailing economy. As Mayor, Commisso will establish a prompt-permitting initiative and combat urban blight by incentivizing Albany residents to turn abandoned buildings into quality affordable housing.
“Frank is the right person to return Albany to fiscal health,” said Caputo. “His experience in city, county and state government, combined with his commitment to fiscal responsibility and government reform, is what Albany needs to confront its budgetary challenges head-on.”
“I’m pleased to accept the Independence Party’s endorsement,” said Commisso. “Albany’s taxpayers and locally-owned businesses simply cannot afford additional property tax hikes, regressive fees, and nuisance fines if Kathy Sheehan is re-elected. My plan makes the hard choices that the current administration refuses to make. I share the Independence Party’s commitment to making the choices necessary to return Albany to prosperity.”
